The sage, with the scientific name Salvia Fruticosa, is a perennial, shrubby plant with numerous branches and thick, oblong, fluffy whitewhite leaves. It is mainly found in dry and rocky places in the Greek countryside. Oregano is the common name of the Origanum Onites plant. The essential oil of Oregano comes from steam distillation of the leaves and flowers of the plant which is different from the common oregano. It has a strong characteristic aroma and is often called castane oil. The essential oil of Oregano is used in aromatherapy, primarily to combat respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis and cough. Its strong antimicrobial, anti-bacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic action is also known.

Dittany is the common name of the plant Origanum Dictamnus. The essential oil of Dittany comes from steam distillation of the leaves of which bear on their surface a number of glandular hairs.
